Traces in a Lava Rock This work is part of Thomas Girbl's series "Pyrographic Landscapes." The composition is reminiscent of the surface of cooled volcanic rock—marked by pressure, heat, and sudden transformation. Deep monochrome gradients meet intense blue pigment accents that appear like mineral inclusions within the rock. Controlled interventions with fire create uplifted structures, crater-like formations, and organic traces that appear fossilized on the surface.

The work suggests movement frozen in time – lava, once flowing, now condensed into memory. The layered structure and the burnt details speak of eruption, cooling, and the silent persistence of geological forces.
