Seasolight (2020) is a light object by Thomas Girbl.

Fire, pigment, and light condense into a silent space of depth. Ultramarine pervades the surface like an endless body, traversed by traces of combustion and fine deposits – as if matter were revealing itself in a state of drift.

Many viewers recognize a floating form within it – an Earth, a distant planet, something that is carried in space and at the same time eludes grasp.

The work dispenses with fixed contours and yet appears precise precisely because of this: a field of controlled movement in which structure and dissolution occur simultaneously.

The circular form reinforces this perception – no beginning, no end. Depth arises not as distance, but as immediate presence.
